The minister who dispelled the rumor after inspecting ongoing projects across the territory on Wednesday said the purported rumors was the handiwork of politicians who are not happy with his achievements and victory. Wike who explained that he was busy throughout last inspecting projects and participating in other official engagements at the Presidential Villa last week, said he was surprised to see people believing such a rumour.

Wike, who carried out the distribution of the bags of rice in Gwagwalada Area Council on Monday, said the gesture was part of the FCT Administration's annual support to Muslims across the territory. The minister, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, identified the beneficiaries as Muslim religious groups, associations, and vulnerable groups in the FCT.

Six persons were confirmed to be burnt to death and several others were injured after a cement-laden Dangote truck suffered a brake system failure while descending from the Kugbo hill towards Nyanya. The cement truck, powered by Compressed Natural Gas, rammed into several vehicles after its driver lost control of the steering, before exploding. The explosion engulfed several other vehicles thereby making the Karu Bridge section of the Abuja-Keffi highway impassable.

The revocation notice which was made known in a letter dated March 13, 2025, was signed by the  Director, of Land Administration of the FCTA, Chijioke Nwankwoeze. The notice stated that the Peoples Democratic Party has failed to pay the annual ground rents due on the property for twenty years, from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite many publications in several national dailies and electronic media to pay up every outstanding bill and ground rent on its property.

The FCT Administration Director of Lands, Chijioke Nwankwoeze announced this at a press briefing on Monday. He said 8,375 property owners in Central Area, Garki I and II, Wuse I and II, Asokoro, Maitama, and Guzape were owing ground rent of more than 43 years.
