    Former Wallabies captain Rocky Elsom has been sentenced to two years gaol time by a French court, and is also set to pay a $109,000 fine for misusing corporate assets during his time as club president of Narbonne. The 75-capped Wallaby did not attend the proceedings, and a manhunt is reportedly underway to locate him, according to CODE, with French authorities issuing an arrest warrant for the 42-year-old.

    In a major boost for Australian rugby, the country’s best Super Rugby player of the past two years, Fraser McReight, has re-signed with the Queensland Reds. The 26-year-old turned down a $1.3 million deal in Japan to sign a new three-year deal with the Reds that will keep the openside flanker in the country beyond the 2027 home World Cup. An announcement is expected in the coming days.

    Rugby Australia has built the frame of the Wallabies, with World Cup forwards Nick Frost and Matt Faessler the latest to re-sign with the governing body through to the 2027 World Cup. After signing fellow Wallabies second-rowers Jeremy Williams and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto in recent weeks, Frost is the latest tall-timber to commit to Australia rugby and his retention completes the trio that regularly packed down under Joe Schmidt in 2024.

    The Waratahs head into round three with their tails up, still on a high from their opening win over the Highlanders, but it remains to be seen if the bye week was a blessing or a curse. The performance against the Highlanders showed there is real potential in the group but it also showed a lack of polish and tactical variation, things which they will need this weekend, against a dangerous Fijian Drua side. An area where they particularly struggled was their kicking game and kick-chase execution.
