Last week, I announced that I am stepping back and leaving All About the Jersey. It has been close to 17 years at SB Nation/Vox Media and close to 19 years total in writing about the New Jersey Devils on a blog on the Internet. This will be my last post here. Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images The New Jersey Devils are in the offseason. While most of the focus this month at All About the Jersey has been about free agency and decisions related to that, I want to take some time to focus a bit on the other main event of the 2025 offseason: the 2025 NHL Draft. FITZGERALD: I do, actually.

This is done to free up cap space in the short term, open up a spot on the roster, and have the player find a new place to play on a new contract. It does come with costs and it is not always the most preferable tool. However, if New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald is serious about making changes to his team for 2025-26, then he needs to consider all options.
