1 INTRODUCTION Since the early 2000s, use of the common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) as an animal model has increased dramatically. Their short gestation period, small size, and unique, species-specific characteristics have established them as an invaluable tool in many translational research fields.1, 2 Understanding how to maintain their health in a laboratory setting is imperative for their welfare and for their potential as research models.
