I'm a huge fan of YouTube videos breaking down cheap products that people can find on discount retailers like AliExpress, Temu and Wish. My favorite is Great Scott's AliExpress Hidden Gems series, which consistently surprises me. I figure it's time I try my hand at some cheap home tech finds (or fails) from AliExpress. My ground rules for this experiment:Products must cost less than $15. Devices need to be cheaper than a mainstream equivalent. Weird devices are more likely to make the list.

Nonstick electric griddles and I are frenemies. No matter how much I avoid metal cooking utensils, scratches inevitably render each griddle's nonstick surface unusable within five years. That is, until I found the Presto 07062 Electric Griddle. The last time I retired a griddle, I replaced it with this pricier ceramic model, and that Presto product has been a scratch-free cornerstone of my kitchen ever since.

Almost nothing distracts me more than crawling into my comfy bed, turning off my smart lights and seeing shadows on the wall of what should be a pitch-black bedroom. The culprit is almost always a new device with an LED indicator light brighter than a full moon. So I trudge to the toolbox, grab my trusty roll of electrical tape and cut off a piece to haphazardly stick over the offending LED, or two if it's especially bright.
