Amnesty International (AI) Nigeria brought worldwide attention to the latest attack with a Saturday post on social media platform X, slamming the failure of Nigerian authorities to “stem the violence” and warning that “without immediate action, many more lives may be lost.”“Many people are still missing, aside dozens injured and left without adequate medical care. Many families were locked up and burnt inside their bedrooms. So many bodies were burnt beyond recognition,” AI Nigeria wrote.

Carney’s predecessor, Justin Trudeau, publicly accused Modi’s government of assassinating Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Vancouver in June 2023. “‘Outrage’ is the kind of term that I’ve heard from people,” Sikh activist Moninder Singh, a personal friend of Nijjar, told Reuters on Saturday. He said Sikh groups would protest Modi’s presence all the way through the end of the G7 summit.

“Border facilities in all five districts – Chaghi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech and Gwadar – have been suspended,” a senior official in Pakistan’s province of Baluchistan said Monday. Border crossings into Iran were “suspended until further notice,” although hundreds of Pakistanis fleeing Iran were allowed to cross back into Pakistan. Border officials said commerce between Pakistan and Iran would still be allowed.

SRPI’s Yearbook 2025 report found that almost every nuclear power “continued intensive nuclear modernization programs in 2024, upgrading existing weapons and adding newer versions,” but China’s effort to catch up to the U.S. and Russia stood out. The U.S. and Russia still hold about 90 percent of the world’s nuclear weapons, but both nuclear superpowers have made efforts to retire old warheads and both have encountered technical and funding “challenges” with their modernization programs.

The IAEA is the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency. Its Board of Governors has been meeting this week, with Iran’s nuclear program at the top of its agenda. On Thursday, the board passed a resolution holding Iran in violation of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations for the first time since 2006. Israel launched its campaign against the Iranian nuclear program the night after the resolution passed.
