    Work to create a "mirror image" of one of Britain's last remaining ancient temperate rainforests has started in Devon. Last week, volunteers from Moor Trees planted 450 saplings grown from acorns specially collected from Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor. This work, which took place near the collection site, aims to support an expansion and regeneration plan by the Duchy of Cornwall to double the size of the woodland by the early 2040s.

    The sister of a schizophrenic man who died from a toxic mix of prescription drugs has called for safer monitoring of antipsychotic drug clozapine. William Northcott, known as Wim, died of a cardiac arrest at a care home in Torbay in July 2021 while under the care of the Devon Partnership NHS Trust. Assistant coroner Louise Wiltshire said clozapine and a combination of other prescribed drugs and amphetamine had caused the 39-year-old to suffer a sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

If that doesn’t show the American people that he is completely compromised, nothing will.”When Mr. Biden came into office, thousands of Americans were dying every week from COVID. Things have improved in that regard since. Or perhaps he’s referring to economics. Since Mr. Biden took office, the Dow Industrials are up 43 percent. The Nasdaq is up 41 percent.

    Robot dogs could help farmers more quickly assess the health of soil, scientists hope as a technology trial takes place in Cornwall. A gamma ray detector on a device developed by a Cornish company is being used to assess soil quality. Farmer Malcolm Barrett, a tenant farmer from St Tudy near Bodmin, is working with scientists from the University of Plymouth who are using a gamma ray detector mounted on a robot dog to map the health of the soil in his fields.

    A games enthusiast has set up a backgammon tournament after he says there has been a surge in popularity. Players from across Devon are expected to attend Torbay Hotel in February to play the game. Warner Solomon, who is running the event, said he was a keen player and since July had organised taster sessions for new players at Totnes Cinema. He added that 64 players were expected at the tournament.
