Many investors swore off IPOs after so many collapsed in the 2000–2002 bear market. But the last two years have seen a resurgence of IPO offerings. How can individual investors take a sober look at IPOs in today’s saner environment? As with all investing, caveat emptor rules. How to evaluate an IPO. BAC , JNJ , JPM , WMT Last year, I came across an investment write-up on a large-cap stock that is one of the largest and most widely followed companies in the S&P 500 index. There was a comment that basically asked: “What is your edge with this stock?” The implication of this question is that there isn’t any edge to be had with large, well-followed stocks, but there is an edge to be gained with small, underfollowed stocks.

Idaho presents a deep-rooted legacy of bird hunting with plenty of options of game with wide-open land, and unique perspective from the hunters themselves. Bird hunters cast a different gaze upon the landscape, a gaze that sets them apart from those who have never ventured into the field with a shotgun and a dog.

“The world is going to disappoint you. You’re probably going to fail more than you succeed — in anything. That’s just the way it works. Life is iteration. It is, by and large, trial and error. No one has ever lived your life before.”— Adam WrightWhen ordinary Americans heard the Federal Reserve refer to the post-pandemic spike in prices as “transitory,” there is no doubt that this was interpreted to mean that prices would return to “normal” levels at some point.

However, he has long had the wisdom to realize that many of the things that his claim checks can purchase will not do much to improve his level of happiness. Herodotus, July 17, 2024. Herodotus is often described as the father of history for his narrative of the Greco-Persian Wars of the fifth century BC.

Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Essential Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger was first published in 2005 as a “coffee table” style book. It was beautifully presented but came with a high price tag. It was also heavy, somewhat unwieldy to read, and not very portable. The book’s format and price probably limited its reach. Stripe Press published a new edition of the book shortly after Mr. Munger died last year at the age of ninety-nine. Amazon and other vendors instantly sold all available inventory.

Daily Journal’s 10-K for the fiscal year that ended on September 30, 2023 was released at the end of December which is later than usual, most likely due to Charlie Munger’s death in November. Mr. Munger stepped down as Chairman in 2022. However, he remained on the board and continued to manage the company’s large investment portfolio until his death. There is no possible way for Daily Journal to replace him.
