    Sometimes when a player enters the varsity spotlight as a freshman, they are simply looking to garner a few minutes and gain valuable in-game experience down the road. Yet Ellie Meyran’s first-season time went well beyond that threshold, as she made personal history for the Branford field hockey team and played for a state crown. Following time with basketball and lacrosse, Ellie started out with field hockey around sixth grade after being encouraged by her now-high school Head Coach Pete Frye.

    Lillian Miller was destined to be a swimmer from such a young age. Still, in such a sport predicated on solo success, she saw the bigger picture through the water and rode the waves of companionship to success as both a competitor and captain. Lillian's journey in the lanes began all the way back in kindergarten, when she was signed up for swimming lessons, and then she progressed to competitive swimming around the age of nine.

    In just three short years, Kellyn Kolber has surged to the top of her athletic profession and position. She went from being a relative newcomer to an all-league setter that also now has both a conference and state crown to add to her resume. The junior played every sport imaginable under the sun growing up, which included gymnastics, dance, basketball, and softball. Around the same time she got involved with travel softball, Kellyn tried her hand with volleyball in middle school.

Through the years, she has strengthened that passion by performing alongside her closest friends–leading to her becoming a standout athlete for East Haven. Gianna grew up as a dancer at a very young age. But then, she got the itch to be a tumbler, and so she tried her hand at gymnastics to scratch it.
