    Sligo Haulage & Distribution Ltd recently took delivery of three curtainsider trailers from Dennison Trailers. Our photo shows the third trailer leaving Dennison’s premises in Naas, Co. Kildare. The new trailers are fully ENXL rated as part of Sligo Haulage’s commitment to safety and security for the goods it carries. The new trailers also feature a small update to the company’s livery which now incorporates a black and silver stripe against the yellow.

    The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is urging all road users to be aware of the dangers posed by sun glare as the sunny clear weather is set to continue this week. Sun glare can result in drivers being temporarily blinded or dazzled by the intensity and brightness of the sun. As clear, sunny conditions continue and high temperatures are forecast over the coming days, the RSA advises drivers to:·     Reduce the risk from sun glare and of being dazzled by wearing sunglasses.

    Almost all Irish truck and van vehicle drivers (99%) believe the risk of driving accidents has increased in the last five years. Geotab surveyed 3,501 commercial vehicle drivers across France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK in April. Nearly all of them (95%) consider the risk of accidents to have increased over the last five years, with Ireland’s 99% topping the poll.

    Volvo Trucks has introduced new aerodynamic improvements by applying a proven concept from the aerospace industry to its heavy-duty trucks. Discrete but impactful modifications to the truck cab will reduce drag, fuel consumption and CO2 significantly. Volvo recently won the 2025 Green Truck Award with the Volvo FH Aero – much thanks to a highly efficient engine and the new aerodynamic Aero truck cab. However, this was also the first real test of Volvo’s latest technology to fight air resistance.
