Gannon University announced Meghan Morphy as the next director of Athletics on Wednesday. Morphy moves into the new position after spending the last 12 years at Gannon, where she had been serving as the associate director of Athletics for Budget and Planning. "We are thrilled to promote Meghan Morphy to director of Athletics," said Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., Gannon University president.

The playoff field for the District 10 Boy's volleyball playoffs are set. The action begins Tuesday, May 20th with a pair of quarterfinals, plus a state subregional. In Class 2A, a doubleheader at Meadville High School will open the postseason. Fort LeBoeuf and Cochranton will face off at 6 p.m. The winner of the match will advance to face top-seeded Meadville. Conneaut and Cambridge Springs will battle at 7:30 p.m. for a chance to face Saegertown in the semifinals on Thursday.

District 10 released the baseball and softball brackets for the postseason, which begins Monday, May 19. There are 11 different classifications, and there are no 5A softball teams in District 10. The postseason opens with two championship games on Monday. Erie High and McDowell will battle for the 6A baseball championship at Mercyhurst University. At that same time, the same two schools will compete for the softball title at Penn State Behrend.

The National Football League Wednesday Night released the 17-game schedule for all 32 teams. The 2025 season begins on WICU, with the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles raising their championship banner against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4. The following day, the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers will kick off the first of seven international games in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After three seasons with the Erie Otters, forward Malcolm Spence announced on Instagram Monday that he has committed to the University of Michigan for the 2025-26 season. Spence is a projected first-round pick in the upcoming NHL Draft that will take place at the end of June. The 18-year-old had 32 goals and 73 points in 65 regular season games last season. He added four goals and nine points during two rounds of the playoffs. Spence was the second overall pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.
