With the comparative value of Bitcoin against the US Dollar on the rise, different scenarios are being sensationalized about what will happen if large institutional or sovereign holders liquidate their BTC. We see mention of Coinbase, Blackrock and Microstrategy. We see mention of the US and China. But at a 1.1 Million Bitcoin holding, few speak about the elephant in the room – Satoshi Nakamoto, who still, nobody knows much about.

The US Pentagon has failed to fully account for its $824 billion budget. This is the 7th audit in a row where it has been unable to meet its budget compliance responsibilities. The Pentagon is just one in many US Governmental cost centres, and its lack of accounting compliance is in no way remarkable. The way I like to consider web3 involves reflecting technical distinctions which divide the sector as a whole into different segments. I try to avoid ‘pop speak’ which focuses on froth, branding, hype and other things. ‘Bitcoin’ is a specific ‘brand’, so I often avoid talking directly about it, preferring to talk notionally about a segment that bitcoin and maybe others, can fit into.

We hear a lot of people announce a ‘problem’ that ‘Web 3 has no utility’. Maybe we need to unpack this a bit. In context, let me say I mean products that relate to the blockchain space, which are not a cryptocurrency. There are probably three groups of people that are critical to the existence of any product. Those who invest (financiers, not HODLers or degens), those who execute, and those who buy.

Where really is your ‘Community’ in Web 3? Some days ago I was responding to a post by Osueke Henry . He was questioning the power of incentives to ‘Community’ and suggested it was a Mirage. Following up on the same theme, he commented : It’s time to build communities … where people come to contribute, not just consume… where ideas are the currency, and growth is the reward.’I’m not sure the open market end of Web 3 has even consumers in the normal sense.
