More Americans now say they disapprove of his job performance than those who say they approve of it. Forty-four percent of respondents to a new UMass poll gave a thumbs down to the Republican after just about three months in office, compared to 51% who approve.

Kennealy, a Lexington resident who served as former Gov. Charlie Baker’s housing and economic development secretary, is the first Republican to announce that he’ll challenge Democratic Gov. Maura Healey in 2026.
