    SHELLEY — Idaho Spud Days is closing in on the century mark, with the 96th edition of the celebration of Idaho potatoes just around the corner. Established in 1927, the celebration marks the start of potato harvest. While most of the events that make up Spud Days take place Sept. 21, there are events planned several days before the main attractions. The bigger events get going Sept. 18 with the Miss Russet Pageant, with a Tater Trot Sept.

    In a Republican primary election where incumbent lawmakers were facing stiff and very vocal challenges from within their own party in the days and weeks and months leading up to the vote Tuesday, the incumbents came out of it quite well when the votes were counted. Among legislators representing districts including Bonneville County, several had gone through questioning and censure from Bonneville County Republican Central Committee members over their voting records, including District 32 Sen.
