    Copper was a strong performer for Rio Tinto Ltd (LSE:RIO, ASX:RIO, OTC:RTNTF) during the December quarter with mined copper production increasing 21% quarter-on-quarter to 202,000 tonnes, comfortably ahead of the consensus estimate of 182,000 tonnes.
