MUKWE – Kavango East director of health Ida Mendai says the ministry’s efforts in the fight against malaria are being hampered by community members who refuse to come to the party. She said people are blocking them from doing their jobs, as some refuse officials from spraying their homes and homesteads during the indoor residual spraying period. Mendai made the remarks during the belated Independence Day celebrations held at Mukwe village, Kavango East on Saturday.

RUNDU – National power utility NamPower this week handed over the site for a much-awaited-for rural electrification project to Together Electrical Services cc, marking a significant milestone for the beneficiary villages of Kapako, Diyana, Rughongo, and Thipanana. The project, which is expected to take for six months, was made possible after a formal request was submitted in April 2024 by the Mukwe constituency councillor Damian Maghambayi through the office of the Kavango East governor.

RUNDU – Kavango East governor Julius Hambyuka was impressed by Rundu Town Council’s initiative to introduce prepaid water meters at the river town, saying it will inculcate valuable management lessons into residents. He said the introduction of the prepaid water meter system will teach residents how to manage their water consumption effectively and enable the council to recover costs and sustain its operations. Hambyuka was speaking at the launch of the prepaid water meter project at the town.
