ORLANDO, Fla. - A former JetBlue flight attendant has lost her lawsuit after being terminated for, in part, firing off an email to the company's CEO protesting a mask mandate in 2022. Florida federal judge Julie Sneed on June 16 ruled in favor of the airline in a lawsuit brought by Elisabeth Serian, who lost the services of her lawyer after claims for retaliation and hostile work environment were tossed.

GALVESTON, Texas - A Texas school district has convinced a federal judge its grooming policy isn't actually sex discrimination, while the judge wonders if a dreadlocked student’s lawyer purposely fabricated her arguments to the contrary. Galveston federal judge Jeffrey Vincent Brown on June 16 took the additional evidence introduced recently by Barbers Hill Independent School District and changed his mind on a prior summary judgment ruling, granting a motion to reconsider.

SCRANTON - Several Pennsylvania charter school students can continue to push their lawsuit after a cold reception at a college fair in 2024, as a federal judge has let six claims move forward. Scranton federal judge Karoline Mehalchick on June 16 tossed three claims but allowed the others in response to the Pottsville Area School District's motion to dismiss. The incident in question happened at the Oct. 3 Schuylkill County Regional College Fair at Martz Hall.

PITTSBURGH - Cyclists don't always have to get off the road, even when they're blocking a long line of cars, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled. In a criminal case stemming from the the traffic stop of Brendan Linton, the court on June 17 made its decision on state law requiring cyclists to use "reasonable efforts so as not to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic."At issue is whether the law requires cyclists to leave the roadway whenever faster moving traffic approaches.

Other defendants in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas are Bible Chapel Ministries and Southwood Psychiatric Hospital. B.B., et al., v. Acadia HealthcareFive minors sued Acadia, doing business as Southwood Psychiatric Hospital, on June 2. Southwood is a residential treatment facility for juveniles in Pittsburgh.
