The headline ”67 dead in DC crash: Trump blames FAA and DEI for crash” made me sick, but not because of the 67 lost souls. We all know that, statistically, on a per-mile-traveled basis, airline travel is safer than surface travel by automobile. Of course, people will die in travel-related accidents. Unless we know one of the travelers, those of us who can put the situation in perspective, may not summon up much grief over the death of those who are strangers to us.

Well, it seems as if our next president will be (gulp) Donald Trump. Like all blue team supporters, I am dejected. There is a significant gender differential among voters. Women prefer Kamala Harris and men prefer Donald Trump. There are several powerful and obvious reasons for the female preference — indeed, I cannot imagine why any woman would vote for Trump. But Trump’s allure for men is, to me, mystifying. In general, I believe some male unhappiness with women in the workplace is inevitable. Years ago, men had no or few female job competitors — certainly female bosses were rare.
