USA Shooting is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025 as the U.S. National Governing Body for international shooting sports. In April 1995, USA Shooting was officially chartered as an independent NGB, taking over for the National Rifle Association of America to serve as the governing body for shooting sports. West Virginia University earned a hard-fought victory at the 2025 NCAA rifle championship, held at the University of Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky, from March 14-15. The win marks the 20th NCAA rifle title in program history for the Mountaineers—the most for any school since the championship’s inception in 1980.

The 2025 NRA National Rifle and Pistol Championships will be held at clubs across the country this summer. For the first time in history, Ohio’s Cardinal Shooting Center will host the NRA Pistol and Smallbore Nationals, while the High Power Nationals will travel to three different venues: Across the Course at Winnequah Gun Club in Wisconsin, High Power Mid-Range at Oklahoma City Gun Club in Oklahoma and High Power Long-Range at the Alliance Rifle Club in Ohio.

Walking away from the Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky, with a team aggregate score of 4738-355X, the WVU Mountaineers clinched the title after a thrilling comeback that came down to the wire, finishing the competition only one point ahead of the runner-up team and host school, the Kentucky Wildcats.
