In the year 1997, Titantic was dominating in movie theaters. A cross-section of folks across the globe were mourning the death of Princess Diana. Third Eye Blind’s “Semi Charmed Life” was dominating the rock airwaves. And an episode of Snow Goer TV was airing on select channels across the Snowbelt, with details on the 1998 sleds we tested the previous spring. Model year 1998 was a good one. It brought the sweet-sounding Yamaha SRX 700 triple-triple for the muscle sled crowd.

Moto-Ski was a top-five brand that had recently been sold by its founders to the Florida-based Giffen Industries Recreational group, an industrial conglomerate that knew nothing about our winter sport.

In recent years, Arctic Cat offered buyers Riot and Riot X versions of its crossover with narrow or wide skis stances, respectively. The idea? Duluth, Minn. ~ The final day of the Amsoil Championship Snocross season unfolded under the bright skies of Duluth, MN, with Spirit Mountain once again delivering a dramatic stage for snowmobile racing’s fiercest competitors. After two action-packed days of racing, most class titles had already been locked in — but Sunday was far from a formality. With championships still undecided in the Pro Lite and Transition 8-10 classes, fans lined the hillside in anticipation.

Riders faced constantly changing conditions, setting the stage for intense battles for podium spots and crucial championship points in front of a packed crowd.
