The UK is gifting Brussels much of its fish and more money, and offering them the right to impose their laws to be enforced by their court.

    Donald Trump sees many excessive barriers to trade that the EU imposes. He points to high tariffs on many food products, with excessive rules and changing interpretations of them. This often results in big fines on US companies serving European customers. There are laws that ban foreign products or ways of making and doing things the EU sees as threats to their home companies. There are subsidies for EU companies and taxes on rival systems or businesses.

The country is desperate for change, and the Government has suffered a catastrophic loss of support. It is now trying to persuade a very sceptical public it wants to do some conservative things after years of fighting against lower migration, Brexit freedoms, and lower taxes.

    The zealots for net zero tell us renewable electricity will be cheaper. So far, the more renewables they put in, the dearer our power becomes. The UK has gone much further than China, the US and Germany in closing down coal and gas and has ended up with far dearer energy. Just look at your latest fuel bill to see the results of bad policy. Enter Tony Blair. He has warned his old party that their plan to get rid of all fossil fuels is impractical and wrong.

The government is missing its target to build new homes because homes and mortgages are too dear. There are plenty of planning permissions where builders are not building. They are short of buyers and skilled employees to do the work.

The right to buy your own home is part of the answer to more homes, not part of the problem. The money tenants pay the state to become owners should be used to build a new social home.

The water industry does need to build new reservoirs. Regulators and Councils have been wrongly blocking these. The government needs to provide a strong lead to get the diggers working.
