SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - We’re keeping an eye on the upper atmosphere as it continues to evolve. A trough of low pressure is expected to develop and head toward the Eastern Seaboard by the weekend. At the surface, that will show up as a cold front slowly pushing into Florida on Saturday. As it moves in, we’ll see our chances for showers—and maybe a few thunderstorms—start to climb. We’re also watching for the possibility of some stronger storms.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - High pressure building in from the east and south will continue to keep the days warm and sunny. Feels like temperatures will again aproach 102 or 103 degrees. Well inland locations will benifit from afternoon showers and thunderstorms providing late day cooling. This pattern is locked in place by the persistant high pressure ridge over the Carribbean and Florida for the next two or three days.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - For the next few day our atmosphere will behave very much an expected for this time of year. High pressure will be building in from the south and our winds will be tend to be out of the southeast or south for the better part of the day. Our temperatures will be near the normals for both highs and lows, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s near the coast and low 90s just a bit inland.

And if you’re not in the US, it may just be Monday. Among other things I spend the day thinking about the freedoms and ideals those whom the day commemorates fought for, and how to make sure those freedoms and ideals continue to survive in the current day. Would be a shame to lose them now. Let’s all try not to do that.

Ten years ago today, the New York Times published the story about me getting a 10-year, 13-book contract with Tor Books, along with $3.4 million advance. And as it is, in fact, the tenth anniversary of an ostensibly ten-year contract, I thought it would be useful to check in and see where things are with me, with the contract, and with the future of my writing career. First, for context, the article I wrote when the news of the deal broke, and the article I wrote at the five-year mark.
