Valley’s Haffar over 600 wins

WEST DES MOINES – Valley boys soccer has one of the best programs in the entire state. Head Coach Aziz Haffar has been along for the ride since the very beginning. Haffar started coaching Valley before it was even a sanctioned sport in the state of Iowa. Last week he surpassed 600 wins for his career. Haffar has been the only coach in program history dating back to 1991. Aziz has led the Tigers to 5 state championships, and 5 runner-up finishes.

NEW YORK — University of Iowa All-American guard Lucy Olsen was selected by the Washington Mystics with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Olsen is the sixth Hawkeye to be drafted into the WNBA since 2019, following Kathleen Doyle, Megan Gustafson, Monika Czinano, Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin. Twenty Hawkeyes have been drafted or signed in the WNBA since the league originated in 1997.

AMES – The Iowa State softball team sits at 9-6 in the Big 12 after winning the weekend series at Oklahoma State. The 9 wins is the most conference wins in program history. Iowa State has a young team this year, only returning 1 starter from last years team. Most games the Cyclones start at least 5 freshman/sophomores. Iowa State is 20-18 overall, 15 games left in the regular season, 9 in the Big 12. The Cyclones host rival Iowa Tuesday in Ames.
