Benue State’s Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has taken delivery of 20 electric and solar-powered cars for its green wheels taxi service, with plans to launch operations in Makurdi, Gboko, and Otukpo. The initiative follows a successful trip to China by Governor Hyacinth Alia and BIPC’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha. The eco-friendly taxis aim to provide efficient and cost-effective transportation, create jobs for local youth, and reduce emissions.

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), Friday, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong collaboration with the Federal Government to support the resettlement and empowerment programme for displaced persons in the state. At least three people have been killed, and several others are missing after suspected armed bandits attacked Mbasombo community in Gwer East local government area of Benue state on Wednesday night. The attack, which began late into the night, left a trail of destruction and death. Eyewitnesses Mr. Tersoo Ikyernum described the incident as horrifying scene, noting that the heavily armed assailants stormed the village, opened fire indiscriminately and set houses on fire.

Gunmen suspected to be Jukun militia, Monday, killed three women who are fish sellers in Tse Ijim, near Anyiin in the Logo Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state. The incident occurred around 4 pm when the women were returning from the market along the Anyiin-Wukari road. An eyewitness, Teryila Abuur, said the gunmen ambushed and slaughtered the women. Logo LGA in Benue state shares a boundary with Wukari local government area in Taraba state.
