Nottinghamshire Police has been removed from special measures by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS). HMICFRS has informed the force that the causes for concern it previously raised have now been addressed and closed. These related to the need to make improvements in how the force investigates crime, delivers neighbourhood policing and activities to prevent crime and disorder, and to improve how it manages performance.

Firefighters from Worksop have successfully tackled another blaze in the town. The fire is the latest in a spate of blazes in and around Worksop and investigations are underway after firefighters had to respond to 16 Worksop blazes in just one week. However, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service (NFRS) had very few details on this latest incident when contacted by your Guardian. In a statement, NFRS said: “Crews from Worksop were called to reports of a small outdoor fire on May 14 at 22.06pm.

A Sutton woman has been jailed for three years at Nottingham Crown Court for her partin a major drugs operation. Lien Thi Nguyen, aged 48, of Glen Street, was found guilty of conspiring to produce cannabis and conspiring to supply cannabis when she appeared in court, alongside four other gang members in February. Returning to court for sentencing on May 9, Nguyen was jailed for three years. Four other members of the gang were also jailed.

A teenager has been arrested and an off-road bike seized after a brief pursuit in Mansfield. Police spotted two bikes riding with no number plates along Chesterfield Road at 5.15pm on May 11. As the riders split up, officers followed one of the suspects as he drove at high speed, overtook multiple vehicles and even rode along a pavement. The bike was eventually brought to a halt in Brick Kiln Lane a short time later and was seized.

A man has appeared in court after a string of shop thefts in Worksop and Retford. Pokémon cards worth £400, a £700 ring, and an array of men’s clothing were amongst the items reported stolen from shops across both towns between May 3 and 11. Following inquiries between the East Bassetlaw and West Bassetlaw neighbourhood policing and response teams, a suspect was tracked down on CCTV and arrested by police on May 11, during which officer was then assaulted.
