    By John SwireThe UK sugar industry was blown apart last month, with accusation and counter accusation after British Sugar contacted all growers with a document containing details of the 2024/25 sugar beet contract offer. This was done, apparently, without agreement or even consultation with the NFU, as is the normal procedure. The NFU has responded by accusing British Sugar of circumventing the negotiating table and offering its growers a contract considerably less than they had hoped to agree.
