The pollsters basically called the election correctly, Labour got a thumping great majority while the Conservatives got a great thumping! Although the Labour lead was less than the polls suggested, a low turnout indicated a general lack of enthusiasm, voters were more interested in getting rid of the Conservatives than electing Labour. A third of the votes on a turnout of under 60% meant that a fifth of the electorate put Starmer into No. 10 but, other than the usual suspects, few complained.
