    Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced on Friday, June 21st that Duvan A. Berrio-Hernandez, no permanent address, was sentenced today in County Court by Judge Caroline Wojtaszek to serve the next 20 years in State Prison for his conviction of Criminal Sex Act in the First Degree. Berrio-Hernandez previously admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in Niagara Falls on November 5th of last year.

    For the first time in Lockport’s history, an LGBTQ+ Pride celebration will be held at the Kenan Center on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1pm to 5pm, with a special drag performance held from 6pm to 7pm at the Kenan’s Taylor Theater. Niagara Pride has partnered with the Kenan Center to be able to provide a community-based Pride event for the City of Lockport this year.

    Award-winning local author Diana Tuorto will offer a children’s storytime and signing of her latest picture book, Ms. Alberta: Feline Barn Manager, at the Lockport Community Farmers Market (69 Canal Street, Lockport, NY, between Steamworks and Lake Effect Ice Cream) on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Tuorto will read her picture book at 9:15 a.m. and sign all of her children’s cat/horse books until noon. Contributing oil painter Ava Bucci will also sign the new picture book and sell her artwork.
