The last time I wrote for The Author Stack, I said that if you’re tired of rapid-release publishing, the good news is there’s another way. The upshot was that if you’re more “artisan author” than “tireless content machine,” you’re better off courting True Fans than relying only on algorithms to sell your books — especially in exclusive programs like Kindle Unlimited. True Fans are the best of the best. If you have enough True Fans, you never have to worry about flops.

In case you’re new to me and don’t know already, I wrote a book called Fat Vampire(available free here to Badass Unicorns). The TV/film rights to that book were optioned around five years ago, formally purchased in early 2021 by NBC/Universal, and made into a SyFy Network TV show called Reginald the Vampire. Reginald premiered in October of 2022, was renewed for a second season in early 2023, and as of this post is shooting that second season in Victoria, British Columbia.
