    Residents of Ndaba village in Mathiga-ini sub-location, Kirinyaga County, were shocked to find a newborn baby girl abandoned in a bush. Sicily Maina, a resident, said locals heard a baby crying on Thursday night and upon searching the area near Ndaba Primary School, they discovered the baby left in a bush. Francis Muriithi, another local, informed the village elder, Robert  Munyao, who in turn notified the Mathiga-ini assistant chief.

    Two people have died after a pickup truck they were travelling in plunged into River Nyamindi at Kaboro Bridge in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, on Thursday evening. Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander confirmed the 7pm incident, stating that the pickup was carrying five people at the time. Two of them—now confirmed dead—remain trapped in the vehicle submerged in the river, while three others managed to escape.

    Residents of the Muragara shopping centrein Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga County, have been waiting for police officerssince 2018 after they were transferred. The locals say they have since been seekingservices from Kabonge police station in Ndia and Kagumo police station in KirinyagaCentral, which are far from their areas. They said this is despite increased casesof insecurity in Muragara and surrounding areas and askedthe government to re-deploy police officers.
