    Henrico native Lauren Hargrove helped delivered a historic performance during the 2024 season for the Virginia Hokies soccer team as starting goalie during the team's run to its first-ever Elite 8 appearance. The Hokies had their most wins since 2015, finishing 14-6-3 overall (6-2-2 in the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference). Hargrove had the fourth-best goals-against average of 0.78 and a save percentage of 0.79 with 64 total saves.

    The Senate passed a bill by Albemarle Democrat Sen. R. Creigh Deeds to allow people to petition the court for modifications of their prison sentence. The 21-19 vote was along party lines with Democrats in favor of the bill, SB-427 , that would allow inmates to petition the court that made the original judgment to suspend the rest of their sentence, put them on probation, or change the original sentence.

    Penalties for selling, distributing or making counterfeit drugs would become felonies instead of misdemeanors under a bill proposed by Harrisonburg Republican Sen. Mark Obenshain that has passed a key Senate committee.     Student-athletes at the University of Richmond do not have permitted access to all of the parking lots on campus during the day. This causes a time constraint that often makes them late to class or causes them to skip meals. Every UR student with a parking pass is expected to park their vehicles in their assigned lot overnight. During the day, there are two lots that student-athletes can park in, X-Lot and C-Lot. Both of these parking lots are on the Richmond side of campus, right next to the E.
