The National Centre for Brewing and Distilling (NBCD) has been officially opened. It's located at the Teagasc centre at Oakpark, outside Carlow Town. €2.3 million in funding which was allocated by the government since 2020 has paid for equipment at the centre to help producers in the beverage sector pilot new products and innovate their practices. The equipment will also be made available to students doing educational courses.

Gardaí have confirmed human remains found on farmland in Kerry are those of Michael Gaine. The 56-year-old went missing in March. The discovery of partial human remains has been made on Mr. Gaines land near Kenmare. Gardaí had been searching lands at Carrig East after he went missing on the 21st of March. A man in his 50s was arrested in connection with Mr. Gaines disappearance but was released without charge on Monday the 19th of May.

The new Waterford Bridge installation schedule have been revealed by Waterford City and County Council as works are to begin this week. With the arrival of the impressive Hebo 9 floating sheerleg crane and the four spans of the Sustainable Transport Bridge, it is anticipated that once the sheerleg and barges are derigged and mobilised the lifting and installation of the bridge sections will proceed on Wednesday, May 21st.

A homeless man who was sleeping outside a Dublin City Garda station was found dead yesterday morning. It is understood the man, in his 30s, was sleeping near the Store Street station. He was found unresponsive by officers who were "conducting welfare checks" on Sunday morning. Gardaí say the man was pronounced dead at the scene, and foul play is not suspected. His body has been removed to the mortuary and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
