The Jackrabbit baseball team remains a late riser in the Summit League after winning three of four games against North Dakota State this past weekend. The Jacks moved into the fifth seed with the series win and now sit just one game shy of Omaha for a spot in the Summit League tournament. “We played pretty well in every aspect,” said SDSU head coach Rob Bishop. “We’ve been trending in the right direction, but we made it show up on the scoreboard this week.

South Dakota State took home their first conference series victory this past weekend, taking two out of three games against the Omaha Mavericks. The Jacks look to carry that newfound momentum into the Twin Cities this weekend, where they will face the conference-leading St. Thomas Tommies. The first game of the 3-game series starts today at 3 p.m., with two games on Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed through Midco Sports Plus.

The Jacks will take on rival North Dakota State in Fargo this upcoming weekend in a three-game series starting tomorrow at 3 p.m. All three games can be viewed on the Summit League Network. Game One (UST 13, SDSU 9)SDSU’s first game of the three-game series against the Tommies started on a low note as the Jacks allowed nine unanswered runs to start Friday’s contest.

SIOUX FALLS — A stunner for South Dakota State. No. 6 North Dakota pulls off the upset of the tournament, knocking off the No. 3 Jackrabbits, 85-69. It was a game nobody saw unfolding like it did, especially when you factor in the “home court advantage” the Jackrabbit faithful bring to Sioux Falls. On top of that, the Jacks showed the capability of lighting up UND, scoring 109 points against the team from Grand Forks earlier this season.

South Dakota State, the defending Summit League champions, earned the No. 3 seed and will host North Dakota in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The Jacks improved to 19-10 on the season and 10-4 in the Summit League, but the last home regular season game wasn’t an easy out for the Yellow and Blue. SDSU shot over 52% from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but the Roos kept it close with a 6-for-13 half from three-point range, while the Jacks shot 20% (2-10) from three.
