During construction of the New York FHB House, Jon Beer also built an impressive 1200-sq.-ft., single-story, slab-on-grade, detached shop. Designed in an effort to promote work-life balance, the space serves as both a woodworking shop and an art studio. The combination shop-studio is fully self-sufficient with its own HVAC system, water, and septic connections. This fully automatic generator, accompanied by an automatic transfer switch and four load management modules, ensures uninterrupted power for the mostly electric house and shop. Installed 30 ft. from the house, the generator features a noise-reducing double door and operates at approximately 67 db at full load.
