Kenny Thomas was there in the clubhouse at Bowman Field when the Williamsport Crosscutters clinched the MLB Draft League first-half championship in mid-July. And of course he was there in September when the Williamsport Crosscutters defeated the Trenton Thunder, 5-4, to claim the MLB Draft League championship. Those moments stood out vividly for Thomas.

Spence is a born catcher, and he loves being situated behind the plate. That’s good news for the Williamsport Crosscutters. “Oh yeah, absolutely (I’m ready to catch my teammates). It’s always an exciting time catching the first couple of bullpens and seeing the guys with some of their nasty stuff,” Spence said with a smile. “Sometimes some of their pitches are a little hard to catch, but after the first few weeks you get a good grip on it.

After Camp Hill made it a 1-0 game in the second inning, South Williamsport went out and stayed composed and played the game it knows how. And in the third inning, the Mounties struck and took control. Tadd Lusk got a hold of a ball and drilled a three-run home run over the right-field fence, giving the senior a special moment in his final game at South Williamsport’s field, to propel the Mounties to a 7-2 win against Camp Hill in the PIAA Class AA playoffs.
