Details of the Boeing airliner deal emerged on Friday 9 May, when the International Airlines Group (IAG) published its Q1 financial results. The International Airlines Group (IAG) is the parent company of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, LEVEL and Vueling. The Group reported a €198 million operating profit in the first quarter of 2025, up from €68 million a year ago.

The well-publicised problems with the F-35’s TR-3 (Technology Refresh 3) upgrade led to a halt in deliveries of modified aircraft, and meant that the RAF had not received any of its F-35Bs since the last pair of Lot 14 aircraft (ZM168 and ZM169 BK-34 and BK-35) were delivered on 16 March 2024. The six remaining aircraft expected during 2024 were not delivered.

His Excellency the Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs Dr Khaled Al-Bayari hs visited the headquarters of Swedish defence and aviation equipment manufacturer Saab, and was briefed on its advanced technical capabilities and innovative solutions in the defence and aviation sectors. Dr Al-Bayari was photographed showing an apparently close interest in a model of the Saab S.106 GlobalEye, and was presented with a framed photograph of the type.

In April 2025, Airbus delivered 56 new Airbus airliners to 33 customers and received orders for 11 new aircraft. Deliveries included 50 narrow bodied single aisle aircraft and six widebodies. The narrow bodies comprised seven A220s, one A319neo aircraft, and 16 examples of the A320neo. The most popular type (in terms of deliveries) was again the A321neo, with 26 aircraft going to airline customers. The A220 deliveries consisted of an A220-100 to ITA Airlines, and six A220-300s.

Five armed militants murdered 24 Hindu tourists in the so-called 2025 Pahalgam attack, as well as a single Christian and a local Muslim pony ride operator who tried to wrestle a gun from the attackers. The militants singled out the men and asked their names and religion, forcing some to recite the Islamic kalima, a Muslim declaration of faith, and asking others to lower their trousers, to identify the non-Muslims, who were then shot in the head at point blank range.
