In their penultimate game of the season and their final home fixture, Cheltenham Town finally converted a League Two penalty. George Miller had one saved in the draw against Grimsby Town and Ryan Haynes crashed his effort against the bar in the win at Crewe Alexandra, but Jordan Thomas made no mistake from the spot on this occasion.

A 3-2 home win with an injury time goal to start the season and the same again in your final home game, which bookends the season quite nicely, doesn't it? The irony. I thought we were excellent first half. We were a little bit loose, it summed the season up - we gave away poor goals, we scored some great goals. The second half felt a little bit flat at times, we did well on the counter, but it's always difficult when you see a team get relegated.

Cheltenham Town play Carlisle United at the EV Charge Points Stadium in League Two on Saturday afternoon (3pm). Robins boss Michael Flynn's men are looking to end a winless run of six home games, while Mark Hughes' Carlisle need a result to keep their survival hopes alive, also relying on Tranmere Rovers' result at home to Crewe Alexandra.

Does that sum up the best and worst bits of being a football manager? We have given them four goals this season, Notts County, and they are a very good team. They don't need any help. Again, we shot ourselves in the foot, but what I was impressed with most is that Sam (Stubbs) didn't let his head drop. I told the rest of the players, he's got them out of the proverbial many times before, so it's about time somebody stood up and got him out of it today because I thought he was outstanding.

Scot Bennett's appearance for Cheltenham Town against Gillingham on Friday triggered an extension to his contract, boss Michael Flynn has confirmed. The 34-year-old was replaced by Tom Bradbury at half-time due in the 1-1 draw to soreness in his knee. But in making his 25th League Two start of the campaign, Bennett has guaranteed himself another year at Whaddon Road.
