STOP & Shop has closed down another outlet for good after the chain announced 38 stores would be shutting up shop this year. The supermarket in Halifax, Massachusetts, pulled the shutters down for the last time at the end of October. A member of the Facebook group Retail Dead or Alive went online to mark the occasion. Along with a photo of the store, they wrote: “Today was the last day for Stop and Shop in Halifax, MA.

COSTCO members have blasted the retailer after it installed a scanner which they say is a “violation” to short people. Shoppers piled onto Reddit to mock the store after it placed a new scanner 6ft off the floor. It isn’t exactly clear in which shop the scanner has been installed or if other outlets also have them. However one person believed the store was in Queens, New York.

MORE cases of a new strain of mpox have been found in the UK, according to officials. Two more cases of a potentially deadly strain of the mpox virus have been detected, in household contacts of the first case, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has said. It brings the total number of cases of the Clade Ib mpox strain to three. The two patients are currently under specialist care at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London. The UKHSA said the risk to the UK population "remains low".

Experts say anyone considering getting a pet moggy should not get a new breed of hairless cat as they are likely to suffer serious health issues which can affect their behaviour. There is a new, growing trend for so-called bullycats, a sphynx-like breed which have short, bowed legs and lots of wrinkled skin.

A NEW fish and chip shop has been told to sell fruit and veg by NHS bosses if it wants to open. Objections to a takeaway trading in Morfa Bychan, Gwynedd, have been raised by the local health board in a bid to stop the locals from getting fat. Heads at Betsi Calwaladr health board want less sugar, fat and salt on the menu, fearing a rise in fast food outlets in the area would be “detrimental” to the health of residents.
