    Chapter 2 introduces pro-market critics of democracy and compares the epistemic abilities of democratic elections and free markets. While epistemic democrats have advocated for the benefits of elections, and Hayekian economists for the benefits of markets, the chapter claims that both institutions face a common set of problems. When it comes to decisions which must account for justice and the common good, elections and markets are argued to face significant incentive and information problems.
