The girls soccer first round is Monday, with the higher seeds hosting contests. The North Moore softball team lost in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A state playoffs in a 7-3 loss at Bear Grass Charter Thursday. The Mustangs (15-8) finished the year with the most wins in a season since the 2016 season. Vikings Cap Off Perfect Run in Conference

The Union Pines girls soccer team claimed its first undefeated finish in conference play since the 2021 season, and the first time in the Sandhills Athletic Conference with a 9-0 win over Hoke County at home Wednesday. The Vikings (15-3-1, 10-0 Sandhills) used a hat trick of goals from Taryn Pekala to lead the offensive onslaught in the win. Grace Queen and Kylie DiMayo had two goals each, and Jaleesa Eichel and McKynlie Roett scored one goal each.

Premium Handgun Manufacturer Coming to Robbins

The town of Robbins was founded in the late 18th century as a production site for the Kennedy rifle, and now the town will soon be home to a firearm manufacturer once again. As the N.C. High School Athletic Association enters into a new era with eight classifications next school year, the postseason plans for most of the sports in the association were cleared up following the association’s board of directors meeting last week. Along with the way the championships will operate, the use of a cash option for payment at NCHSAA playoffs was approved. This comes with the first increase in playoff ticket prices since 2018.
