Coco Gauff, the world No. 2 tennis player, has called on social media companies to do more to tackle online abuse, describing the comments she receives as "gross."On Tuesday, the WTA Tour, which runs women's tennis, released a report that laid out the widespread abuse aimed at players online. The report noted that much of the abuse came from disgruntled gamblers, with 15 cases so serious that law enforcement was involved.

When I went to the Key Leaders Breakfast on May 29th at the Tualatin Country Club it was a dark and gloomy morning. When the State of Oregon’s outstanding and well-spoken State economist, Carl Riccadonna, began to speak the rain was coming down as he was describing the state of our economy, both past, current, as well as future predictions. He was very good at taking a dry topic and making it easy to listen to and had very interesting points from the State’s perspective.

In 1732, when Alexander Pope wrote in the poem ‘An Essay on Man’ that “Hope springs eternal” he expressed the notion that even in the face of adversity, humans retain a fundamental optimism and hope for a better future. In many ways, how we handle adversity defines who we are. Facing tough circumstances tests us, taps into our human spirit and desire to rebound and survive. I’ve noticed a gentleman at my gym over the last couple of months who clearly has been tested in this way.
