LAKE ST LOUIS, Mo. — The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is investigating the suspicious death of a Lake St. Louis woman. Lake St. Louis police said at 11 a.m. Saturday, officers did a welfare check on a 79-year-old woman after a concerned neighbor called police. The neighbor said they hadn't seen the woman for about two weeks.

John Ehlinger, 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault. In 2023, he attacked a driver that honked at him after he ran a light. Prosecutors said the attack happened on Oct. 22, 2023 outside the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse at 10th Street and Clark Avenue. Authorities said Ehlinger drove his pickup truck through a light at the intersection when another driver beeped at him. Ehlinger got out of his vehicle and pulled the driver from his car and onto the pavement, punching him several times.

LOUIS — A St. Louis man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action, nearly a decade after he stabbed a man outside a south city bar, leading to his death. Andrew Barnett, 44, pleaded guilty Friday in St. Louis Circuit court, in connection with the 2014 stabbing of 34-year-old Kristopher Schmeiderer.

Police said paramedics pronounced McKenna dead at the scene. Officers said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The driver was not injured.
