A man accused of scamming members of the Yonkers' Hispanic community through an immigration fraud scheme in 2019 appeared before a Westchester judge for the first time in four years on Thursday. Juan Cedillo, 69, was extradited from Washington state to Westchester Wednesday night following a yearslong manhunt to locate him. Cedillo was initially arrested in November 2019 and pleaded not guilty to an 87-count indictment.

For the first time, the Yonkers Police Department has released footage showing its "Drone as a First Responder" program in action. Police launched the drone from the top of St. Joseph's Medical Center on Saturday, July 20 at around 10:30 p.m. for a car on fire, according to the public flight logs. Video shows the drone locating the car at 290 Riverdale Ave. before first responders got to the scene.

The number of Democrats backing Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for president is growing by the minute as she works to secure the number of delegates necessary to win the party's nomination. Among those supporting her is Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson. Davidson was among the wave of Democrats who won legislative seats last year that gave the party its first-ever supermajority. Now she's focused on helping elect Harris to the nation's top position.

Several Yonkers' parks were packed on Saturday as the city recognized National Park and Recreation Month. July is designated as an opportunity to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. The fun included live music, dance classes, free food and activities for the whole family. The day also served a deeper meaning too. On Monday, Yonkers will recognize the 100th anniversary of its parks. That's one of the oldest in the area.

The owner of a kennel in Bedford is facing five counts of animal cruelty following a monthslong investigation led by the Westchester SPCA. Penelope Smith-Berk, who founded Rescue Right and who owns Northwind Kennels, is accused of denying critical medical care to five Bernese Mountain dogs last fall. On Oct. 3, several witnesses alerted SPCA Westchester officials about four sick puppies at Rescue Right in Northwind Kennels.

Con Edison was able to fully restore power to more than 500 customers nearly 17 hours after an underground transformer blew on Monday night. Both apartment units and businesses downtown were without power and air conditioning for half of Tuesday on one of the hottest days of the year so far. Officials said the utility crews restored most of the power overnight by rerouting its electrical feeds remotely.
