Newcastle United have not made many mistakes in the transfer market during the PIF era. While it would have been nice to see Newcastle United spend more money and not be so hamstrung by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the funds they have invested have generally been put to good use. Indeed, it’s difficult to think of too many mistakes the PIF regime have made in the transfer market.

Former Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth is back in work. It has been an eventful few months for Ashworth, who has since been replaced by Paul Mitchell at Newcastle United. Indeed, Ashworth left Newcastle for Manchester United last summer but lasted only a few months at Old Trafford. Newcastle United may need to look at signing a new forward this summer. Newcastle have plans to play Delap and Alexander Isak together but actually landing the England U21 international may be difficult.

Jack Grealish is again being linked with a move to Newcastle United. Grealish, at 29, is slightly older than the profile of player Newcastle United have generally signed under their PIF ownership. Generally, the club have looked to splash the cash on younger players since the takeover in October 2021. Still, Grealish has been linked with a move to Newcastle. The England international has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola this season, starting only 16 times across all competitions.
