Manchester United completed the post-season tour of Asia on Friday with a 3-1 win over Hong Kong. In response to being booed in Malaysia on Wednesday, Ruben Amorim named a strong team from the start against the Hong Kong national team. However, it made little difference immediately as, despite dominating early proceedings, United went 1-0 behind to Hong Kong. It stayed this way until the 50th minute when Chido Obi scored his first senior goal for Manchester United to draw the teams level.

Manchester United will hope to sell several big names this summer, with Ineos’ rebuild needing to be funded. This was always required after the horror show that was the 2024-25 season from start to finish. Manchester United ended the season 15th in the Premier League, which is a low. Ineos could not ignore. Due to this, there could be as many as 13 United players set to leave.

Since Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United, the status of Harry Maguire has changed drastically. The appointment of Ruben Amorim in November was an interesting one by Ineos, with the squad not at all suited to playing the 3-4-2-1 system that we have all become familiar with. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in months of struggles for Manchester United, although Amorim has claimed he is glad for this because it should, in theory, mean he avoids teething pains next season.

Manchester United’s post-season tour of Asia will conclude on Friday against the Hong Kong national team. It is a somewhat bizarre match-up which pits club against country to bring an end to the disaster which has been the post-season tour. Ruben Amorim saw his side beaten on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, a result which saw Manchester United booed off the pitch by Malaysian fans.

Manchester United’s post-season tour of Asia started in disastrous fashion, which was not well received in Malaysia. Losing 1-0 to an ASEAN All-Stars side on Wednesday is not good, no matter how it is spun. Manchester United’s players looked disinterested and as though they didn’t want to be there. There were several academy players who impressed for United.
