Watch enthusiasts love a good reissue. Smaller proportions? Nice. Historic references? Heck yeah. Tasteful accents that mimic years of ever-so-perfect aging and patina? That one's a toss-up, to be honest. For better and for worse, the watch-collecting zeitgeist puts a lot of stock in the past. Watches are vehicles through time on so many levels that it only makes sense for brands to leverage that history in one way or another.

Watches and cars are like peanut butter and jelly. You can decide which is which. For the purposes of my metaphor, and this particular sandwich, the jelly to TAG Heuer's peanut butter is none other than one of the most iconic names in sports car racing history – Porsche. It's no surprise, given that both brands independently trace inspiration back to the same auto race: the Carrera Panamericana.

I know what you're thinking, and I'll go ahead and say it: no one asked for this. The Ressence Type 1 Squared is seven years old at this point, so why do A Week On The Wrist? Ever since I started working with watches years ago, Ressence has been a brand that has intrigued me, but I haven't really had a chance to spend any meaningful time with one. So I did what anyone else in my position would do – pulled some strings in The Shop to get my hands on one and made a video about it.
