WASHINGTON — Alec Peters remembers his favorite part of summers as a child. “All the Washington camps, I remember being a part of and those players, and they were like my heroes at the time,” Peters said. JOLIET — Baseball is a game of inches. A pitch an inch more outside. A glove an inch more to the right. A swing an inch more out in front. That void will be no more after the Ironmen won Monday's Class 4A Illinois Wesleyan Super-Sectional 2-0 over Aurora Waubonsie Valley at Jack Horenberger Field.

BLOOMINGTON - It wasn't easy for Normal Community, but it wasn't supposed to be. The pendulum was heavily swung - twice - in favor of O'Fallon in Saturday's Class 4A Illinois Wesleyan Sectional title game. But the Ironmen were just that: grizzled, tough and confident competitors that came out of a seven-inning gauntlet with a 10-8 victory.
