“Oh, right — good luck!” That was the general response when I announced our summer holiday plans to friends, who had booked sensible family breaks in Cornwall, France and Greece. There were plenty of raised eyebrows at my decision to take my brood to chaotic Istanbul: “Is it safe with kids?” “Won’t it be way too busy?” “How will you relax?” My answers? Yes, no and you’ll see.
