FLINT - Two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Claressa Shields has been nominated for Black Entertainment Television’s Sportswoman of the Year award. FLINT - Thursday sparks the beginning of the MHSAA regional track and field meets with several Flint-area athletes already qualified for states. The early qualification mark is set by determining a 3-year average of 6th place at the finals in that division. Early qualifying marks had to be earned at qualified meets that included fully automatic timing and six or more teams and can also be earned at regionals and in the preliminary heats at regionals.
