FLINT - Thursday sparks the beginning of the MHSAA regional track and field meets with several Flint-area athletes already qualified for states. The early qualification mark is set by determining a 3-year average of 6th place at the finals in that division. Early qualifying marks had to be earned at qualified meets that included fully automatic timing and six or more teams and can also be earned at regionals and in the preliminary heats at regionals.

FLINT - A Flint native will be playing closer to home. The Detroit Lions announced Monday afternoon the organization has signed wide receiver Malik Taylor, a 2014 Montrose High School graduate. Taylor went undrafted in 2019 and was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after tallying 121 receptions and 2,091 yards at Ferris State University. He spent 2019-22 with the Green Bay Packers, where he caught his first-career touchdown from Aaron Rodgers against the Houston Texans in a 35-20 win on Oct.

Swartz Creek senior right-hander Avery Ludwig doesn’t concern herself with trying to fit in or being nervous – she’s there to win and be a difference maker. “I think we were missing that fire a little bit on our team,” Swartz Creek softball head coach Gabrielle Deering said.
