ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska State Troopers recovered 21 dogs from a Wasilla residence on Wednesday, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, in what is being called an animal cruelty investigation. That seizure was in collaboration with Mat-Su Borough Animal Care, who have taken protective custody of the animals. Troopers stated the custody is pending on an examination by a veterinarian. According to Mat-Su Animal Care, all of the animals are reportedly in good health.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Court documents reviewed by Alaska’s News Source detail the moment Anchorage Police entered an Anchorage residence where 73 animals — including 71 dogs and two birds — were seized last month. Court records show that 47-year-old Monika Marshall is facing 73 misdemeanor counts of animal neglect and abuse after police say dozens of the animals were found inside her Anchorage residence late last month.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The man prosecutors suspect of committing a 2005 cold case sexual assault is facing trial this week for a different case after prosecutors say he failed to register twice as a convicted sex offender related to a 1996 conviction. As jury selection began Tuesday, the suspect — Guy Nelson, 58 — appeared in court representing himself against felony charges he failed to register as a sex offender or child kidnapper in February 2023.
